“Working Cooperatively with
Parents to Ensure Student Success”
As a 1978 graduate of Saluda High School, I am honored to serve as the assistant principal of Saluda Middle School. I graduated from University of South Carolina in 1982 and entered the United States Air Force as a second lieutenant. I am proud to be a Desert Storm veteran. After serving 10 years active duty, I pursued my teaching certification through the Program for Alternative
Certification for Educators (PACE) and was privileged to be hired as a social studies teacher at my alma mater in 1999. I truly loved being around the young people and sharing in the awesome responsibility of preparing them to be productive and informed citizens of our great nation. After much contemplation, I realized I wanted to be positioned to have a greater impact on the lives of the young people of Saluda County. I wanted the opportunity to influence more students to develop a love for learning and a passion for success. Upon receiving my masters in Educational Leadership and Administration from Capella University in June 2012, I was afforded the opportunity to serve in my current position.
I believe the attitude that students develop during their middle school years concerning their education is a major factor in determining their future success. It is my daily desire to make a difference in each child’s life that comes through the doors of Saluda Middle School. I am looking forward to 2013-2014 being another outstanding year of academic excellence and success.
